Sean McCall | My favorite from one of our users... they threatened to call
the police because of a message that our software had performed an illegal operation. Tim Young [Elevate Software] Elevate Software, Inc. timyoung@elevatesoft.com | Alex,
<< Just a bit of frustration as I said. We are fully committed to DBISAM, there's no real turning back anyway. As it happnes, you and Eric were correct. The issue was a result of a stupid antivirus update. Uninstalled it completely and everything working fine again. It's the unfortunate thing in software business that when things don't work, the software is immediately blamed. Was fully aware of the virus-type issues but just didn't click that their virus checker might have been updated automatically, and would suddenly cause this sort of issue. Have suggested to their network support consultant that maybe they have virus checkers at the client PC level rather than on the application server. >> Sorry about not getting back to you sooner on this. As I indicated in my email response, you can find our phone number on the Contacts page of the web site here: http://www.elevatesoft.com/contacts.htm and you should contact us if you ever have an emergency like that. If I'm not immediately available, just leave a voice mail and I'll get back to you shortly. Yesterday was an exception to the rule - I left the office early because my wife and I took the kids to their first concert (Richard Ashcroft/Coldplay) as a delayed Christmas present. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |

"Al VAs" | Hi Tim,
That's fine mate. As you would know we're not ones to cry wolf everytime something happens, and it just happened tht this client is very delicate at the moment. Murphy's law that anything that's going to happen will happen to your most delicate client. At least it proved a point, as the customer was pretty livid and didnt have alot of nice things to say about our product, and I just knew that it could only be corruption or an external factor. No need to apologise, everyone knows your level of support and as they say 'all is well that ends well' Hope you enjoyed the concert Alex > > Sorry about not getting back to you sooner on this. "Jerry Clancy" | Alex,
I apologize, also, for not responding to your first message. My instinct told me it might be a virus checker problem based upon your description (temp files, etc.). Might have saved you a few days of grief had I taken the time to post. Sorry. Jerry |
