Sam Jones | >> 1) You can still use the 32-bit ODBC driver on x64, but the host application >> has to be 32-bit also. We know. But the apps out in the wild are... wild. Most .NET apps automatically run as x64 on an x64 OS ('cause the devs don't set the x86 tag). So folks are doing .NET->ADO->ODBC... and are stuck if they are on an x64 OS. The x64 OS world is picking up really quickly all of a sudden with Windows7. x64 apps are happening as well, partly due to the way .NET apps are automatically 64 bits.... >> 2) We cannot produce a 64-bit ODBC driver until CodeGear/Embarcardero comes >> out with a 64-bit compiler. We're investigating possibly using FreePascal >> for this, but only if CG doesn't produce something by later this year. We understand. In fact, for our own reasons we are also interested in an x64 compiler from CG (and where the heck is the roadmap for that?). Please keep us posted on this! |
