EDBManager - colours |

No idea how difficult this would be but to help me preserve my data I'd like to suggest something like I do with my apps. I commit the sin of having live and development on the same PC, and even when the live data is on a different pc use my development notebook as my main machine/terminal. Most of my stuff has the option for users to set colours (very comprehensive with the new stuff and TMS controls) so the live and development copies have very different colour schemes. I know EDBManager shows the session and database down at the bottom and I'm using different sessions for live and development but its not massively obvious which set of data I'm in. Would it be possible to have a colour scheme for each session? Nothing massively sophisticated just enough so that its obvious you're in the red session or the blue session. Roy Lambert |

What exactly would be painted with the "session" color scheme, as opposed to the normal color scheme ? -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |

There are a number of candidates - the status bar, the tool bar, the tree etc My concern is that it is to easy to get confused as to which session you're in, press F9 in a script or query and bye, bye database Roy Lambert |

I can see about adding another label at the top, or in the caption of the main form, but I think the whole color scheme is a lot of work for very little payoff, especially if you can't remember which color schemes are assigned to which sessions. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |

I know, but its not blindingly obvious >I >can see about adding another label at the top, or in the caption of the main >form, Or even just the status bar >but I think the whole color scheme is a lot of work for very little >payoff, For you its probably zero payoff, for someone who happens to notice they're about to delete live data its worthwhile >especially if you can't remember which color schemes are assigned to >which sessions. That's easy - development is always bright, garish and "in yer face" whereas live is cool and soothing, or at least something you can stand to have in front of your eyes all day. Roy Lambert |
