EDB 2.0 Release or Beta? |

"David Cornelius" | Tim,
I'm wondering if you have a handle on the release date of EDB 2.0 yet? Or if you have replication ready for beta testers yet? Thanks! -- David Cornelius corneliusconcepts.com custom designed software |

Tim Young [Elevate Software] Elevate Software, Inc. timyoung@elevatesoft.com | David,
<< I'm wondering if you have a handle on the release date of EDB 2.0 yet? Or if you have replication ready for beta testers yet? >> Almost. Between the 1.09 Build 2 and the support plans, I've had to delay 2.0 quite a bit. Fortunately, things are clear now and I should be able to wrap up the replication shortly. At this stage, I think that we're going to go ahead and stagger the feature set for 2.0, starting with the replication being the first feature out the door. That will allow those that are waiting for the replication to be able to use it immediately, while the other features can be phased in at the rate of a new minor release about every 2 weeks. That way, everything should be done within the first month, and we can continue from there in terms of adding to the feature set. That was one of the main points of the new support plans, so it will be good to get away from the major upgrade cycle ASAP. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |

Is it going to be part of the new features in EDB2? |

> How about synchronization? If you are talking about "replication", it's announced as one of the first features to implement in V2, as you can read in Tim's post. If what you have in mind is something else, I'm afraid I don't understand what are you talking about... can you explain further, please? -- Fernando Dias [Team Elevate] |

It is a well know feature in DB engines. Tim mentioned a couple of months back the support of this feature in EDB later on. |

Fernando Dias Team Elevate | Abdulaziz,
> Synchronization is the ability to make two different DBs similar in terms of data As far as I understood, you can synchronize 2 databases using replication. If you have bi-directional replication you have synchronization. -- Fernando Dias [Team Elevate] |

Abdulaziz Jasser | Fernando,
<<As far as I understood, you can synchronize 2 databases using replication. If you have bi-directional replication you have synchronization.>> I am not sure, but the way I understood was: there are some built in fields, some sort of Date/Time stamp + a sequential numeric field that should with a little help from the user (Identifying the key fields maybe by SQL or a OOP method) should be able to do that. |

Abdulaziz Jasser | I wished/hoped/prayed for a long time to see an SQL that could do:
SYNCHRONIZ Table1 WITH Table2 USING Field1,Field2; Of course with the help of the other built-in fields. WOW... Hope not to hear this: "IN YOUR ???? DREAM". |

Don't bother, I was still dreaming |
